How to Create Sea Moss Gel
Ingredients:
1 cup dried sea moss
2 cups water (for soaking)
3 cups water (for blending)
Instructions:
Rinse the Sea Moss: Begin by rinsing the dried sea moss under cool running water to remove any salt, sand, or debris.
Soak the Sea Moss: Place the rinsed sea moss in a bowl and cover it with 2 cups of fresh water. Let it soak for 12 to 24 hours. The sea moss will expand and soften during this process.
Drain and Rinse Again: After soaking, drain the water and give the sea moss another rinse to remove any remaining impurities.
Blend the Sea Moss: Transfer the soaked sea moss to a blender and add 3 cups of fresh water. Blend on high until smooth and creamy. The consistency should be similar to that of sorbet or a thick gel. If it’s too thick, add more water gradually until you reach your desired consistency.
Store the Gel: Pour the blended sea moss gel into a clean, airtight container. Seal it tightly and place it in the refrigerator. The gel will thicken even more as it cools.
Usage and Shelf Life: Sea moss gel can be used in smoothies, desserts, soups, or as a thickening agent. It typically lasts for about 2 to 3 weeks in the refrigerator.
By following these steps, you can create a nutritious sea moss gel that enhances your recipes with its numerous health benefits.
